Boryszew powered by green energy

The strategy of the Boryszew Group is the intensive development of the renewable energy sector, and the ambition is to use 100% green energy in our production plants by 2030.

Emission-free sources of electricity are, on the one hand, economic security, because we believe that green energy, free of CO2 emission fees, will be cheaper than energy from conventional sources. In the long run, this will help maintain production profitability, especially in the case of long-term contracts.

At the same time, emission-freeness is already becoming one of the qualification requirements in contracts, among others. with European automotive corporations. The requirement to provide a certificate of green energy used on the car parts production line will soon be standard. The signals we receive from the market say that in 2030 in the automotive sector, the use of only green energy in the entire production plant will be obligatory in order to obtain new contracts and orders.

How do we want to do this?
The basis of the energy mix in the Boryszew Group will be green energy contracted under 5- and 10-year PPA contracts. Energy from solar and wind profiles will be profiled and balanced by the Boryszew Green Energy & Gas team. Additionally, we will develop our own #RES production capacity, in accordance with regulatory changes, and acquire certificates of origin of electricity.
We build new installations on every available land and roof of our plants. A 2.3 MW PV installation is being built in Czechowice-Dziedzice. In Toruń, 1 MW of PV capacity is already operating on the roofs of Maflow plants, and we plan to build another 1 MW within a year. We are also preparing for installation in Huta Bankowa with a size of 3 MW and NPA Skawina (0.6 MW PV).

At the same time, as part of the strategy and development of the energy segment, the construction of energy storage facilities with a capacity of 50MW and 5MW is planned. Building an effective energy management system will bring economic benefits, enable the purchase of green energy at lower prices during production peaks and increase its use. We will provide optimization services for all energy storage facilities in Poland, including our new Repono AG investment in Sweden, Germany, Poland and Spain.

We plan to invest in technology companies in the field of AI. We identify many areas that can be optimized and managed automatically. Such tools will optimize the management of distributed energy storage. In this respect, we cooperate with EIT InnoEnergy and selected R&D units at Polish universities.

Acting in accordance with the adopted strategy will allow us to provide our production plants with 100% green energy by 2030 and increase the competitiveness of the Boryszew Group.
